Synopsis: Epic Games' Gears of War released for the Xbox 360 on November 7, 2006, and went on to become one of the most popular games of that console generation, spawning three more games for the 360. The Ultimate Edition focuses only on the first game where we first meet disgraced former war hero Marcus Fenix who must lead a squad of soldiers against an enemy force known as the Locust Horde. This Xbox One release features 90 minutes of new campaign content from the PC edition, enhanced graphics, Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound, a concept art gallery, and modernized online multiplayer.


The online multiplayer runs at 60 frames per second and includes all of the previously released add-on maps and PC-exclusive maps for a total of 19 maps. Online play also has dedicated servers, skill-based matchmaking, and new game types, such as 2 vs. 2 Gnasher Execution and Gears of War 3's King of the Hill. Enemy spotting, multiplayer Tac-Com, and 17 unlockable characters have been borrowed from Gears of War 3 as well. ~ Jonathan Sutyak, All Game Guide
