Synopsis: The furry and four-legged find new homes in the Pets expansion pack for Sims 3. With the add-on, sims of the third kind are able to adopt horses, along with cats and dogs, as well as cage-dwelling pets such as birds, reptiles, and rodents. Animals interact with their owners, and with each other, through recognizably authentic behaviors. Horses, cats, and dogs, especially, take on distinct personalities and become major household characters, if not full-fledged family members.


Players design pets through an interface similar to the main game's character creator, with an abundance of sliders and selections for deep customization. For the first time in the popular computer game-series, some pets can be controlled directly, just as sim people are, using a menu of player-selected actions such as "chase" or "dig."


Animal-oriented quests and repeated practice allow pets to improve certain skills, such as hunting, collecting, or show-jumping, which may benefit their owners in unexpected ways. Players also gain access to pet-friendly areas around town, including a park, an equestrian center, and a library (for quiet kitties).
